(Los Angeles City Event Permit No. R2530) 12-4 p.m. Self-guided tour of six private gardens 3 p.m. Lecture by arborist Darren Butler 4-6 p.m. Light supper & silent auction at Getty House, the official residence of the Mayor of Los Angeles Proceeds from this years tour will go toward greening, vegetable gardens, fruit trees and a fountain at Los Angeles Fire Stations #s 52 and 61, and greening the median at 6th Street and Norton, eastern entrance to Windsor Square. Last years tour contributed more than $33,000 toward greening at Los Angeles Unified School Districts John Burroughs Middle School. Additional funds were raised from business and community groups, including the Hancock Park Homeowners Association Est. 1948. Previous tours have created sensory gardens at LAUSDs Frances Blend School Special Education Center, Wilshire Crest Elementary School, and funded other greening projects in the area. The 2012 tour is being held in honor of internationally renowned landscape architect, Mia Lehrer and civic philanthropist, Lyn Mac Ewen Cohen, president of Miracle Mile Civic Coalition and First-In Fire Foundation, LAFD Tickets purchased by mail are $65.00.
